Community Involvement
In addition to installing and servicing custom home theaters, whole house audio systems, home and business alarm systems, home intercoms, and home networking equipment, Structured Cable of VA firmly believes in giving back to the community.
We regularly participate with the Make a Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. In fact, we were a Silver Sponsor of the Make a Wish Foundation through D.O. Allen’s Making Wishes 5K in 2007 and 2008.
Our team members also contribute individually to a number of volunteer organizations. Dan Dubansky, President of Security Specialists, Inc. serves as a national board member for GE Home Technologies and a member of the Home Technology Alliance, a joint venture of National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)/Custom Electronic Design Association (Cedia). Dan also maintains membership on the March of Dimes board, and is a trustee on the Home Builders Association of Richmond and the Home Builders Association of Virginia. He was selected by Gov. Charles Robb to serve on the Crime Prevention through Environmental Design committee.
Dan’s wife, Deane Dubansky, and our CFO, has volunteered in Richmond’s secular and religious community for more than 35 years, serving on many committees and also assuming responsibility as a leader on many boards. She has been involved with children’s groups, senior citizen organizations, educational forums, Special Olympic activities, fund raising projects, and budgeting of capital campaigns.
She received the Distinguished Service Award from the Virginia Association of Non-Profit Homes for the Aging, The Board of Governors Award from The Beth Sholom Geriatric Services of Virginia, The Jewish Community Center’s Outstanding Community Service Award, The Chesed Award from The Rudlin Torah Academy, and most recently, she was honored with the 2010 Women of Valor award from the Federation of Richmond, Virginia. Deane continues to serve as a volunteer in the public schools and for non-profit organization in the Richmond vicinity.
